I've had the opportunity in my life to go through the lives of the great people of not only my country but the world as a whole. It's the tenet of a contemporary psyche of human mind that whenever the world comes to a threshold of decadence, there rises a hero, a crusader, who may be a normal soul in his obscure life, but rose to the occasion and delivered and altered forever the very course of people and their lives, which in turn leads to the fate of the nations and the world.
Our lives and the world today, has again come up to that threshold where every human value and notion is staring in our eyes and asking to redeem it, And their evil counterparts are dragging our feet, screaming vociferously in our minds that every human endeavour that our forefathers executed for them was an arrow shot in the dark that somehow worked out.
So far, our heroes and our saviours are not visible to us. Our leaders have lost their path, our affluent people are too busy in their cosy little lives, our poor people are too busy to survive and our middle class is too scared to fall back and too eager to jump forward that they refrain every other event that the life throws at them.
Yet, whenever a whiff of change or a voice never heard before falls upon us, we see to it, we accept it and put our faith upon it, in a hope that may be this is ours and this world's moment of change. May be life has finally bestowed us with that rarest opportunity through which we can write out our destinies with our own meager efforts.
Our hearts bleed, our tears shed, our minds torment, our souls torn asunder, yet we move on, we keep walking in a hope that may be one of us will rise and then everything else will be history.

ReplyDeleteI believe you have something very important to say, and I want to read it so that I may come to understand it. This may sound tangential, but bear with me. I picked up a newspaper one day and came across a crossword puzzle, the easy clues were for someone who had ten minutes to spend filling in the boxes, but I was intrigued by the anagrams and the cryptic clues because I couldn’t work them out, so I kept the crossword and bought the next issue of the newspaper and by looking at the answers I was able to get into the head of the compiler. After a couple of weeks ( without looking at the answers), his clues were no secret to me. Once I can get myself inside the head of a writer, his/her secrets will be revealed to me. The more I read of what you write, will break down any errors in syntax or cultural barriers. That day will not come soon enough. If you’re a dreamer Arvind, so am I. Excellent piece of writing.
Yes Lindsay, you are right that you are a dreamer. Had you not been so, you couldn't have mustered the will to rip the other meanings off this so obvious passage.
ReplyDeleteI've read your writing to, as i put it like this.
Once i was reading a prose of a brilliant author, who was defining the ordeal of his character to attain what he yearns for. That one thing, which is there inside always, yet its tantalizingly annoying for him. So he banishes it, refrains it willingly. Yet, one day the things comes to him from someone who was least qualified for it.
We are dreamers and whatever we do is a part of the dream phoenix. Your dream, my dream is not a big picture, the big picture is where does it end.
Till then, whatever we do, see, perceive, think is an effort in deciphering the anagrams and codes of that dream.
Arvind, it is not about where it will end, that is not predestined, the question is, where do you want to take it? what does it need to get us there. What is the difference between a dreamer and a visionary. Is it to do with a visionary's dream being realised, and a dreamers vision has not, as yet came to fruition? Who sets the time frame on success...history? If all we have to fall back on is history, then we be f****d.
ReplyDeleteWhere do we wish to take it?
ReplyDeleteHave you asked this question to yourself in your dream that where do you want to take it? I usually wake up with faint voices in my mind reminiscing me of the reality and the epoch of the future.
Yes, a dreamer may be feeble like me but a visionary is someone who can dare to live with his dream, rather he is the one who doesn't care whether he gets what he wants as he is too engrossed with the luminous path, which the life has bestowed him with.
Who sets the time frame on success? I do not have any reply for it yet but i would like to end up with this beautiful quote by Barbara Tuchman..
'The unrecorded past is none other than our old friend, the tree in the primeval forest which fell without being heard'.
Well put up Phoenix.
I though that you might appreciate this analogy, being as you are an engineer and will understand centrifugal force, that energy that originates from the centre and moves outwards. This is a useful analogue to explore the orthodox view that many have of governments, political parties and movements, and raises a fundamental question. From where do they derive their power? From an engineering point of view there are many ways to generate the energy to create such a force. So let us look at governments, they have a centralised powerbase that spreads out from the centre, and touches almost every facet of our lives, but the real power is centripetal, it is the perpetual movement of people towards the centre that gives rise to its real power, and ultimately, the mandate to perpetrate the grossest of acts against our fellow man in our name.
ReplyDeleteIf nobody voted, by what legitimate right could any party or movement claim to have a mandate to govern? Without the will of the people, what means would they employ to seize or retain their power and enforce their will upon us? Would we, the free peoples of the world, under such circumstances, tolerate an unrepresentative, if not despotic regime to be foisted upon us by default, or by force of arms? . Oh! that I could live long enough to see the answer to those questions played out on a world stage. I fear however, that such an event would be cataclysmic.
Phoenix, No power in this world can match the power of self realisation.
ReplyDeleteThe democracy- Expecting that people must always choose the right, when they fail to choose the right in their own little lives.
Communism- Aspiring for a uniformity in the society, when the powers are interested in aspiring for creating non-uniformity in the whole world.
Dictatorship- As you have seen it all so no need to talk.
So what's the right path? You might have learnt certain things in life that you can never forget. How does that come from? As Buddha said in his golden words that when you want to bring something in your life, go to the depths of the oceans to check how true it is? How authentic it can be in your life? Don't be scared to challenge it, as its the matter of faith, but once that faith is restored, do not look back..
This faith phoenix, is the kingpin of every endeavour. And this faith, is missing in today's bedlam. And you might have felt that annoying tickling in your mind that how scared and unwilling are people,in today's times to take a deep dive for answers that really matter in our lives.
Why i am saying you this?
A dreamer knows that in deep waters lies the truth..
I can see by your reply, that my analogy was nt lost on you. The trouble is nt that people are afraid to look for answers, the truth is they already know the answers, and that is what frightens them.
ReplyDeleteYes it does. As change is not easily acceptable to mankind since inception.
ReplyDeleteNobody wants to come out of the cocoon so easily.
I wander through each chartered street,
ReplyDeleteNear where the chartered Thames does flow,
And mark in every face I meet,
Marks of weakness, marks of woe.
In every cry of every man,
In every infant's cry of fear,
In every voice, in every ban,
The mind-forged manacles I hear:
William Blake.
Excellent.
ReplyDeleteI thought you might appreciate it. Not my words, but I simply could not have put it any better. I would like to write something for my blog, that you and I have been discussing since we met on the WB forum. If you have the time, could you write, in as many or as few a piece that encapsulates the subject. This is not a competition, I just thought that it would get the old grey cells working, and we could compare notes. There's no word count, we can use as many or as few as we deem necessary to get the job done.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good idea. Just let me know the topic as i am also finding it hard to reckon what my next topic would be for posting?
ReplyDeleteFaith, Religion? Apparently we all believe in something. What do you believe in? I believe this would be a very challenging subject to write about...What do you think? If you can think of something else, then let's have a look at it.
ReplyDeleteOkay.. Lets write about it then..
ReplyDeleteExcellent choice Arvind. I'll post something on my blog in 2-3 days. Take as much time as you need, there's no hurry. I hope we will both learn something from it.
ReplyDeleteHi Arvind, Something came up that needed my immediate attention, so my piece on 'faith' which I have had to delay, will restart tomorrow, and all things being equal, I will post it on monday. I must admit that it is a far more complex subject than I had anticipated. But I love a challenge. How are you getting on?
ReplyDeleteI have framed up a story in my mind. Its gonna be a short story on the elected topic.
ReplyDeleteYes its tough. As tough as in real life to hold upon.
hi Arvind, sorry it took longer than anticipated but I have now posted my piece on my blog as promised. As always I look forward to any comment you may care to make...how are yu getting on Arvind, haven't heard from you or the cowboy for a couple of days, or is it more?
ReplyDeleteHey phoenix,
ReplyDeleteIts true that I've not been able to focus on writing due to some very busy schedule. I would definitely read it and my work is still in mind but as promised, it will be posted very soon.
Hey! Arvind, there's absolutely no pressure, that would take all the fun out of it. Personally, I don't care if you ever write it. I had some fun with it and you can see that my offering was very much tongue-in-cheek. Take care of business first, we can always have fun later.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lindsay..
ReplyDeleteYou do not know how bad it feels when you could not do something which you dream of every time of doing.
All of this, this hiatus between do and not do is only building up of an eternal yearning and love for it.
One day my friend, one day..
One day my friend.one day. I'll meet you there, my brother.
ReplyDeleteYes.. Phoenix.. we will be there some day.
ReplyDeleteYou may feel a harmony inside you, a music that never tires.. Resulting in the silence of the soul.
The world has always refrained people who were incongrous to its motif, yet always turned to them for seeking answers and change..
